Microphone
The practice page asks for microphone permission only when you choose Sing or Start microphone. Audio samples are processed in browser memory to estimate pitch. This app does not upload, record a file, or retain microphone audio. The microphone stops at the end of an attempt, when you press Stop, leave the page, or hide the tab. The displayed trace disappears when you reload.
Local audio files
Open practice uses a temporary local address to play the file you choose. The file and its name are not uploaded, transcribed, or saved by the app. Removing the file or leaving practice releases that address. Open practice does not send analytics events or provide a song accuracy score; it displays microphone pitch. Microphone sessions stop after 10 minutes. Background apps may interrupt audio or microphone access.
Optional practice feedback
The experience form sends only the answers you choose to submit: country choice, outcome, main reason, optional note, interface language, campaign label, consent version and a random response code. No email, persistent visitor ID, filename, audio or pitch trace is attached. Keep the response code shown after submission if you want us to locate or delete it. Please do not type identifying or sensitive information in the note. Submitting a response does not enable tracking or subscribe you to email. This is separate from volunteering for an email conversation.
Optional research events
Practice works without analytics consent. If you check the sharing option, we store a random visitor identifier in your browser for up to 30 days and send limited events: language, practice mode, campaign source label, attempt count, number of measurable notes, and an optional usefulness answer. We do not send audio, pitch traces, email, or song listening history in these events. Uncheck the option to stop sharing and remove that browser identifier. Previous events remain until deletion or the pilot data review.
Research notes and song requests
Submitting a research note stores your email, country choice, recent practice experience, consent version, and submission time. These are used only for this product research and its follow-up conversations, not a marketing mailing list. A song request stores the link and section you explicitly submit, not your streaming account or listening history. You must be 18 or older to submit. Do not include health information or other sensitive details.
Hosting and access
Vercel hosts the site and Supabase stores submitted research data. Infrastructure providers may process ordinary request information such as IP addresses and browser headers. To limit abuse, our form uses an hourly-changing hash of the IP address; the raw address is not stored in the research tables. Old rate-limit hashes are removed on requests after 24 hours. Browser clients cannot read research responses. No advertising pixel, session replay, or automatic behavioral tracking is loaded by this pilot.
Your choices
You can use the exercise without submitting a note, request, or event. Contact us to access, correct, or delete a research submission or stop contact. Use the email you submitted so we can locate your note. For anonymous events, include the random identifier from your browser storage if you want a specific record removed. We will review pilot data and delete unneeded identifiable responses by 24 December 2026; this is an operator task, not an automated retention claim. Service providers may process data outside your country.
External links
Opening a YouTube or Spotify link takes you to that provider and its privacy rules. We do not fetch, extract, or analyze audio from these platforms. Selecting a song does not make automatic pitch matching available for that song. The available pitch exercise uses our original three-note phrase.
